Hand Carry Policy
The Miami Beach Convention Center operates a strict hand carry policy within the venue.
-
Move-in and move-out through the Miami Beach Convention Center’s lobby areas is strictly limited to small, hand-carried items (the size of carry-on items approved by FAA). These are authorized to enter the main Convention Center Drive west entrance and the Washington Ave east entrance. No trolleys or carts are allowed through the main entrances.
-
Larger items, including dollies, trolleys, carts and flat beds, must be unloaded/loaded through the Loading Dock, located on Convention Center Drive and 18th Street.
- Individuals moving items by hand must be employees of the exhibiting company and must carry ID to verify their position.
- Pop-up displays - equal or less than 10 feet in length and capable of being carried by hand by one person - are permitted.
If the items you are looking to bring into the hall do not align with the above restrictions, you will be required to go through the loading dock and pay material handling based on weight (see below 'Shipping and Material Handling' for more information). You also have the ability to order cartload service to assist you in bringing items back and forth from the loading dock. Cartload service can be ordered through Shepard's ExhibitorPro site and includes a flatbed truck and a laborer to help unload from your vehicle and deliver the items to your booth. See below for further information.
Shipping and Material Handling
Shipping gets your materials to the venue, whereas material handling moves them to and from your booth. This is explained in more detail below:
Shipping is the transportation of your materials from your office/warehouse to the event. You may use any carrier of your choice.
-
Freight can be sent to the Shepard Advanced Warehouse or directly to show site (during set periods)
-
Shipping arrangements are your responsibility and billed separately
-
You may also use Shepard Logistics Services for discounted and coordinated shipping options
-
Shipping Labels for the Advanced Warehouse and Show Site can be found via the Shepard ExhibitorPro site, or download here.
-
Print at least one shipping label for each box. Include the exhibiting company name and booth number.
-
If you are creating your own shipping labels, make sure the same information from the Shepard provided labels above is included on your labels.
-
Material Handling refers to the movement of your freight inside the convention center, is exclusively managed by Shepard and includes:
-
Unloading at the dock
-
Delivery to your booth
-
Empty container storage
-
Return of empties at move-out
-
Transport back to the dock and loading outbound freight
-
Charges are typically based on certified shipment weight
-
A certified weight ticket is required for all shipments
-
Must be ordered in advance
Cost-Saving Tip: Consolidate shipments to avoid multiple minimum charges.
